Forney ISD Education Leadership Foundation Awards more than $42,000 in Grants to Forney ISD Teachers

Recently, a number of teachers in the Forney Independent School District received a little more support in their classrooms when they were awarded a teacher’s grant from the Forney ISD Education Leadership Foundation. The non-profit organization that supports the students and staff members of Forney ISD awarded more than $42,000 in teacher grants to 23 teachers this year. Members of the foundation recently visited several schools in the District and awarded the grants to teachers in an effort to enhance the educational programs in their classrooms.

The grants are available to all Forney ISD teachers, administrators and staff members in an effort to support innovative instructional programs which positively impact Forney ISD students. Since 2007 when the teacher grant program began, the foundation has awarded more than $350,000 to Forney ISD teachers and staff members to fund programs for their classrooms and/or departments.

A number of local businesses and individuals also helped fund the teacher grants this year. Businesses and individuals who financially supported the grants include InTex Electric, Edward Jones Financial, the Forney High School Parent Teacher Organization, Family Medical Practice, the Forney Messenger and WRA Architects.

Although the foundation awarded the grants to the teachers, the real beneficiaries will be the students who will get to use the new equipment in the classrooms!

Forney ISD Education Leadership Foundation Earns Funds Through Kroger Rewards Program

The Forney ISD Education Leadership Foundation recently received a check from The Kroger Company for $1,263.89 from the Kroger Rewards Program. The funds were raised through the program from individuals who have listed the foundation as the non-profit organization they would like to support through the Rewards Program. Every time they shop at Kroger or purchase fuel from Kroger, a portion of the total amount is donated back to the foundation.

The Forney ISD Education Leadership Foundation rewards each graduating student in Forney ISD a $500 scholarship to help further their education and also awards thousands of dollars in grant money to Forney ISD teachers and staff members every year. The foundation is able to provide these benefits to students and staff members through donations and fund raising activities. One way to help the foundation raise money is through the Kroger Community Rewards Program.

Individuals who have a Kroger Plus Shoppers Card can sign up the Forney ISD Education Leadership Foundation to receive funds every time they shop or purchase gas at Krogers. A percentage of all purchases at the store or gas purchases goes to the Forney ISD Education Leadership Foundation when they sign up the foundation with the Kroger Plus Shoppers Card. And they still get all the discounts available at the store and at the gas pump!

Signing up the foundation through the Kroger Plus Shoppers Card is simple. Just follow the simple steps below and the foundation will begin earning money the next time you shop at any Kroger store.

1.       Go to the Kroger Community Rewards webpage at the following link: https://www.kroger.com/communityrewards
2.       Click on the “Sign In” button and enter your email and password that you set up for the program.
3.       Once you are logged in, click on the “View Your Rewards Details” button.
4.       Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Enroll” or “Re-Enroll” button under the Community Rewards section. (If you have not set up your rewards card yet, you will need to do that first).
5.       You can either type in Forney Education Leadership Foundation to find the foundation in the list, or type in the foundation’s number. The number is 93911

Unfortunately, the Kroger Plus Shoppers Card Reward Program must be renewed annually, so if you signed up the foundation last year, you will need to “re-enroll” the foundation again this year.

Be sure to sign up the Forney Education Leadership Foundation with your Kroger Plus Shoppers Card to help provide scholarships for Forney ISD graduates and grants for Forney ISD teachers!

Foundation Thanks North Forney High School Staff for Donations With a Shrimp Boil Lunch

Members of the Forney ISD Education Leadership Foundation recently hosted a lunch for all of the teachers, staff members and administrators at North Forney High School. The lunch was the foundation's way to say 'Thank You' to the teachers and staff members at North Forney High School for their donations during the 2014-2015 Forney ISD Employee Contribution Campaign.

In September of 2014, the Forney ISD Education Leadership Foundation held the Employee Contribution Campaign. Forney ISD employees donated more than $42,000 to the foundation to help fund student scholarships and teacher grants. North Forney High School had 100 percent participation in the employee contribution campaign and raised more than $6,600 for the foundation during the employee contribution campaign.
